The Ultimate Gift 2009
What's the first thing you think of when you hear of a local charity and an investment firm teaming up to host an event? Money. In late June of 2009, Magic Moments and Pryor McCormick joined together to host a film screening at the Summit Theatre. There was no collection bucket or sales pitch, just free tickets to a great movie.
The film of choice was The Ultimate Gift, a story about trust fund baby Jason Stevens (Drew Fuller) whose grandfather has devised a crash course on life designed to challenge him in improbable ways. The film takes you on the journey of self-discovery that ends with Jason's choice between money and happiness.
More than a hundred people attended the event. The film was preceded by a slide show filled with moving pictures from Magic Moments, previous events hosted by Pryor McCormick and famous quotes from authors such as Maya Angelou and Henry David Thoreau.
Many people left with tears in their eyes, but a smile on their faces. "Thank you for such a great movie, but you should've warned us to bring tissues," one guest jokingly replied. In the end, the main goal was achieved. More people had been exposed to the The Ultimate Gift movement and wanted to pass the word along to their friends and family.
